cope is a new piece by emerging company Kieran Sheehan Dance Theatre,
combining filmic movement, spoken word, dance, poetry, stunning
design, live and pre-recorded music to create powerfully
expressionistic dance theatre.

cope is the story of two women unable to move on from the traumatic events of
their past, trapped in a world where every noise, touch and taste
stings with the memory of what came before. The Women are watched by
the Witness. Like looking at a car crash, the deeper the pain, the
more horrific the memory, the more desperately they suffer, the more
she needs to witness. And so a cycle of dependency is established
linking the three women, a dependency on never dealing with the pain,
never getting over the issue, never entering a dialogue.

Combining a slick aesthetic with a visceral and cathartic theme, cope
will leave you breathless.”

COPE PARTICIPATION:
Cope is being developed through an intensive participatory process with women who have experiences of domestic abuse, from public, professional or personal perspectives. Time Wont Wait is devising a strategic participation programme designed to inform the artistic development of Cope. This programme will invite organisations and individuals connected to domestic abuse to take part in a series of discussions, workshops and residencies that will offer participants opportunities to feed in their knowledge of the subject, as well as take part in creative activities designed to empower and engage those at risk.  As well as consulting in the research and development stage the company will engage with groups of people in developing both the live and filmed production in partnership with a venue in October 2009 (details are currently being finalised).

Time Won’t Wait is a creative participation and production company dedicated to engaging and inspiring all kinds of people in arts activities that reflect the world we live in.

TWW devises and produces participatory and performance projects for a range of contexts; theatres and galleries, street arts festivals and special events, community engagements and workshops.

TWW also offers creative consultancy and training in strategic thinking, development, participation and social inclusion.
